The Office of Human Resources at Oregon Tech is seeking applications for a full-time, 1.00 FTE, 12-month, fixed-term, Diversity Officer position located at the main campus in Klamath Falls, Oregon.
Under the direction of the Associate Vice President, Office of Human Resources, the Diversity Officer will guide the development and implementation of proactive diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives which will support the University's strategic plan.
The Diversity Officer will engage faculty, staff, and students to build a welcoming and inclusive culture at Oregon Tech. The Diversity Officer will assess potential barriers and recommend strategies focused on recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce. The Diversity Officer will design trainings on cultural competency, gender differences, disability, sexual harassment, and other topics designed to increase awareness and support of equity and inclusion values, and maintain compliance with applicable laws. The Diversity Officer will also coordinate compliance with Affirmative Action, Equal Employment Opportunity, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and other applicable requirements, including serving as the University's Title IX Coordinator.
The Diversity Officer proactively develops and implements plans, programs, and activities that educate and motivate the university community to hold pluralism and inclusion as core values and fosters a climate that respects diversity; conducts thorough and impartial investigations related to discrimination, harassment and retaliation.
The Office of Human Resources (OHR) offers professional human resources services to Oregon Tech faculty, staff, students, and university community. OHR is responsible for developing and administering Oregon Tech’s human resources program that includes talent management, employment, labor relations, equity and diversity, benefits, payroll, compensation, training and development, recognition, and other services. Oregon Tech is the only public institute of technology in the Pacific Northwest. We're a fully accredited four-year college that is part of the Oregon University System. -Bachelor's degree in a relevant area of specialization and five (5) years or more of progressively responsible experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
-Ability to attain 40 hours of required training in Title IX within first month of hire.
-Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and oral/written communication skills.
-Willing and able to travel and work weekends/evenings.
-Experience working with and conducting investigations in EEO/AA, Title IX, discrimination, and diversity arenas.
-Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements, laws, and guidelines.
-Successful record of leading or facilitating the completion of diversity and inclusion initiatives, preferably in a higher education setting.
-Demonstrate effective conflict resolution skills and the ability to determine mutually acceptable solutions for difficult problems with competing interests.
-Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
